Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is the Longest Books I’ve Ever Read!

When I was putting this together, I found that it was mostly comprised of books from the same three or four series. So I made my own rule to only allow one book per series. Also, I am going by the page count in the editions that I own personally as opposed to what is on Goodreads and I stop the page count at the last page of the actual story. Appendixes, glossaries, etc. are not included in my page counts.

34002132

Completely unsurprisingly, Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson tops the list at 1243 pages. And of course Way of Kings and Words of Radiance were also on the list before I had to make up my own personal rule for this list.

662

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand comes in second at 1168. Admittedly, I skipped the 50 page monologue that is John Galt’s rant speech. But even with that deducted, it still comes in second place.

10664113

A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin comes in third with 959 pages. I actually thought that A Storm of Swords was going to be longer for some reason but, at least in the editions that I own, ADwD has about 200 more pages.

175983

And one of the most recent books that I have finished, Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson, comes in fourth at 920 pages! And I believe this series just keeps getting bigger for a while…

6690798

The Passage by Justin Cronin is fifth place with 878 pages. Maybe it is because this book is several years old at this point but I am surprised that I don’t see many people talking about this series. It is an intense take on a vampire-zombie apocalypse. It is incredibly slow for a while but so worth it.

77522

One day, I will create a list that doesn’t have a Harry Potter book on it. But today is not that day! Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix comes in sixth with 878 pages!

16096968

In seventh place is The Core by Peter V. Brett, the final book in The Demon Cycle.

17570538

The Blood Mirror by Brent Weeks is in eighth place with 757 pages!

33396914

Next to last, but equal in page number to its predecessor, is Assassin’s Quest by Robin Hobb with 757 pages. This reminds me that I really need to continue on with Robin Hobb’s work…

32498052

And last but certainly not least (well…actually I guess page count-wise that’s exactly what it is…) An Echo of Things to Come by James Islington with 752 pages.

I feel almost certain that there are some books that I forgot to look at in creating this list but it was fun to make anyway! What are some of the longest books that you’ve read? Let me know in the comments!
