Another month gone by and this one brought us into the fall! I read 10 books this month, 2 of which were graphic novels. I felt like I was non-stop reading this month though, partially because one of these books was over 800 pages long.
I was curious what my “pages read” was for this month so I added it up and it came to 3,709 pages! That seems so crazy to me. And I was only one book away from hitting everything I listed on my September TBR!
First up, I finished off the award winning trilogy by N.K. Jemisin! I still think the first book in the series was the series but the series as a whole was still amazing.
This was one of the very few books by Brandon Sanderson that I had not read. And that is fixed now! While this book didn’t quite have the in-depth magic system that other books by Sanderson have but it was still a fantastic read and I am disappointed that there is not more to this series…yet.
I believe this book is coming out the same day this is posted so go read it! I can easily see this book making many blogger’s Best of 2018 lists in a few months.
With the release of Volume 3, I finally got started on Volume 1! And I am really upset that my local library does not have Volume 2.
In my September TBR, I said I was going to read the next two books of the Malazan series. Well, sadly I only got to one but as of writing this am about halfway through the third! So better late than never? But the second book was already better than the second with several of the storylines staying with me long after I finished the last page.
The third book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series also came out this month! While it had some problems that the first two books had neatly avoided, I still was addicted to this and finished it in under a day.
I Am Haunted
One of the memoirs by Zak Bagans, lead investigator of the Ghost Adventures TV series on the Travel Channel. I admit, I read this kind of ironically because I watch the show just to sort of laugh at this guy (and occasionally get a bit spooked). And omg this guy is SUCH a d-bag. I haven’t decided if I am going to write a review for this or not but if I do, that is the short version.
Poe: Stories and Poems
Another book I read to try and get into the October spirit! I haven’t read enough of Poe’s original work to be able to tell how faithful this adaptation was but it was definitely fun to read and definitely very creepy.
And finally, there was the most recent book that I read for the Book Geeks Uncompromised podcast. Honestly, apart from Zak Bagans douche-baggery, this was probably my least exciting read of this month. There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with it, it just really didn’t do it for me.
And now for the October TBR!
I am keeping my Definitely Going to Read list a little small this month because I honestly have no idea what it has coming. So these are it and honestly, I am about halfway through Memories of Ice so far. And I am so excited to get to The Spellbook of Katrina Van Tassel!
What all did you guys read in September? Looking forward to anything in October? Let me know in the comments!
