Down the TBR Hole #2

Web

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story! The idea is to help cut down on that massive TBR pile by looking at books that you have had on there the longest and that way push higher anticipated books up on your TBR!

How it works:
➽ Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
➽ Order on ascending date added.
➽ Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
➽ Read the synopses of the books
➽ Decide: keep it or should it go?

I went with 5 books this time and sadly, it is kind of a downer this time.

Leviathan by Scott Westerfield

I think I remember putting this book on my Goodreads TBR? Looking at the synopsis it looks like some historical fiction in WWI. It doesn’t sound bad but honestly I just don’t see myself reading it anytime soon. ×REMOVED×

Gil’s All Fright Diner by A. Lee Martinez

I think I owned this book at one point but, looking at my shelves now, I seem to have unhauled it at some point. So it seems like I already made this decision. ×REMOVED×

Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood

Okay, I DO remember adding this one! But only because the cover is so pretty. This seems to be a story about three sister witches protecting themselves and each other. I can see how I was interested in this at one point as it kind of gives me a bit of a Practical Magic sense but I don’t think this is something I would be interested in now. ×REMOVED×

The Mad Scientist’s Guide to World Domination

I know without even having to look any further exactly why I added this book. Stories that tell the bad guy’s side? I would be all over that. BUT. I have come to accept that short story anthologies are just not my thing. I get distracted far to easily and never get through them. ×REMOVED×

3008

A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett

Okay, there has to be one book that I keep from this post right?! And this is it without a doubt. I adored the movie adaptation of this book when I was a kid. The story of a girl whose world is turned upside down when her father dies unexpectedly, leaving her orphaned in a girl’s home. KEEP

Man, that kind of sucks, 4 out of 5 books removed from my Goodreads TBR! But it kind of feels good at the same time to remove some books that I never was going to get to.

  1. IT FEELS SO GOOD TO DELETE! (Or maybe I’m just drunk with power?) But seriously… you keeping A Little Prince makes me wanna start back up the classics with you! We should for sure do like.. alternating months for 2019. We can like.. use a # and invite people? Or just have it be us? Regardless, i miss you and our classics! 🧡xx

      1. That’s a good point. This is only my second TBR post but I am already noticing that the books I tend to keep that are that old are typically classics of some sort. Everything else has a much higher chance of being removed.
